Leeds Results

The 4th girls' coaching and tournament event took place on the 3rd April in Leeds at Alcuin School, an extremely successful chess school. 32 girls played in all. They were organised into 10 teams of 3 players (which doesn't quite add up, but believe me, it worked).

There were 5 rounds, 6 coaching sessions and a lunchtime quiz (which added to each players' score). Personal scores are out of 18 (3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a win. 3 points were available from the lunchtime quiz). Team scores are out of a possible 54.

The coaches were again spectacular. I would like to extend my thanks to them all for making the day run so smoothly. I would also like to thank the school, staff and all the parents who helped, especially John Hipshon, without whose help the day would not have been possible.

No player could win more than one prize, which were presented in the following order of priority: age group, board and team.
